Hi there,
How it goes is that if the spouses are not separate yet, then the spouse with the higher income has to claim full tax deduction, while the other spouse cannot claim any. This is to minimise tax liability.
But in cases the wife and husband are seperate, then both contribute for their child, they can go 50-50.
